![]() 1840 Painting by Henry Lewis. In about 1840 Henry Lewis depicted this group of Dakota Indians visiting the Red Rock. The boulder itself is shown in the lower left corner. After being moved a number of times, it now rests in front of the United Methodist Church in Newport and is described by a historical marker. The original designs painted upon it are gone. A similar rock is said to have been located on the south side of Red Rock Lake in Eden Prairie, but it is now lost.
