Plate 4. Looking southeast at the Government Mills in about 1858. The Grist Mill is the small stone building and the Sawmill is the wooden building. The sluiceway is in the foreground. Spirit Island is at the far left with the 20th Avenue Bridge just visible at the bend of the river.
